A calm confidence comes to mind when we think of the Leos in our lives. They’re strong, loyal, courageous, and true. They stick up for the little people and pride themselves in their intelligence and strength. Spending time with others is really important to them and they make fast friends with anyone they meet. They have little problem expressing their opinions and unique ideas and it’s because of this that it’s important for Leos to stop and listen. Whilst, their inner voice can sometimes be louder than the outer, it’s all the more crucial to find ways to quiet the mind and build up a mindfulness meditation practice.
Power Poses
Leos are brave which means arm balances and difficult postures will challenge them and make them feel stronger within themselves. Try building a handstand into your sun salutations, or if you’re not quite there yet, start working on holding Bakasana (Crow Pose) for a full 10 breaths. To build strength even further in this posture, you can elevate it by straightening the arms. It takes a lot of core and arm strength so don’t be let down if it takes time to do. Just accept that this is a process and keep practicing. Additionally, postures that work with the throat and heart chakras will give you some more subtle body strength. Try adding Fish pose, and Cobra to your morning practice.
Counter Poses
Just like a lazy lion in the sun, Leos sometimes have the tendency to bask in their unchallenged glory and get complacent rather than growing their inner self. Counter postures with a focus on the Crown chakra can help with this like Camel Pose and Child Pose. Other forward fold postures are essential for any yoga practice strong in back bending and core work so add Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle pose) and hold for 5-10 breaths to get the benefits from this relaxing and introspective posture.
