5 Benefits of Practicing Yoga Outside

Yoga is a practice that connects the mind, body, and soul. It is often practiced indoors in yoga studios or at home, but have you ever considered practicing yoga outside? Outdoor yoga is a unique experience that offers many benefits beyond just the physical practice of yoga. Here are five reasons why you should practice yoga outside and how WEDOYOGA Studio's outdoor classes at Hitchin Lavender can help you.

Outdoor Yoga At Hitchin Lavender - June 2023 WEDOYOGA

1. Connect with Nature

Practicing yoga outside allows you to connect with nature and the elements around you. You can breathe in the fresh air, feel the warmth of the sun, and hear the sounds of nature. This connection to nature can help you feel grounded and present in the moment.

2. Boost Mood and Reduce Stress

Being outside in nature has been shown to improve mood and reduce stress. Practicing yoga in a beautiful outdoor setting like Hitchin Lavender can enhance this effect. The lavender fields and surrounding countryside can create a calming and peaceful environment that will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

3. Vitamin D

Exposure to sunlight helps your body produce vitamin D, which is essential for strong bones and a healthy immune system. Practicing yoga outside can give you a healthy dose of vitamin D while you move your body and connect with nature.

4. More Space

Practicing yoga outside gives you more space to move and explore your practice. You can spread out your mat, stretch your arms and legs, and enjoy the freedom of movement that an indoor yoga studio may not offer.

5. Community Connection

Practicing yoga outside can also be a great way to connect with others in your community. WEDOYOGA Studio's outdoor classes at Hitchin Lavender offer a chance to meet other yogis, make new friends, and share your love for yoga in a beautiful setting.

Preparing for Your First Outdoor Yoga Class

If you're new to outdoor yoga, you may be wondering how to prepare for your first class. Here are a few tips to help you get ready:

1. Check the Weather

Before heading out to your outdoor yoga class, check the weather forecast. Dress appropriately for the conditions, whether that means wearing layers, bringing a hat, or applying sunscreen. Classes will continue come rain or shine!

2. Bring Your Own Mat

When practicing yoga outdoors, it's important to bring your own mat. Choose a mat that is lightweight and easy to carry, and make sure it's big enough for you to move freely.

3. Bring Water

Staying hydrated is important, especially when practicing yoga outdoors. Bring a water bottle with you and take sips throughout the class.

4. Arrive Early

Give yourself plenty of time to find the location of the class, set up your mat, and get settled before the class starts.

5. Communicate with Your Teacher

If you have any injuries or health concerns, let your teacher know before the class starts. They may be able to suggest modifications or adjustments to help you practice safely.

6. Take it Slow

If you're new to yoga, or new to practicing outdoors, take it slow. Listen to your body, breathe deeply, and move at your own pace.
